Ever since I first started photography, I have been fascinated by light and darkness, shapes of my subject matter, and realistic depictions of photography. It was somehow real but different.

My work is about emotional components of spaces. There is emptiness, loneliness, and a waiting for something to happen. There is clash of cultures, looking at American urban spaces with my Korean eyes. Exploring massive spaces and see through to another narrative with my camera pleases me and challenges me over this clash.

When the sun goes down and time passes into midnight and artificial lights illuminate the world, I go across the boundaries to alternate narratives: void of humans, mysterious spaces, various colors and reflections of artificial light. These urban spaces stimulate my visual senses to think about what is and what is not. Alone, I feel these empty spaces have yet to be seen, even though they are there, densely populated during the day.
